STUDIO H (STILL) LOVES JOBURG

For the Studio H team, Johannesburg has always been a city of frequent but fleeting visits – early morning flights in and out, squeezed between packed schedules. About two years ago, we found ourselves witha rare opportunity: an entire month in the vibrant heart of the city, for a pop-up we built in Braamfontein. It was then that we discovered the culinary wonders tucked away in its diverse and expansive neighbourhoods, and decided to share our experience in a list published by the Sunday Times.

Now, with our recent return to the City of Gold for a longer-than-usual period to build The House of Suntory pop-up in Hyde Park, we set out once more to uncover Johannesburg's secret and not-so-secret spots. We rediscover old favourites (seriously, our first list is golden – check it out) and stumbled upon new ones, each bite a testament to the city's rich culinary tapestry where every meal tells a story.

Here’s the roundup:

Pizza at Pablo House in Melville
